He has also been the USA delegate to the ISO/IEC JTC1 SC17 WG8 International
Contactless Smart Card Standards Group for the past four years. The
uniqueness of the contactless technology has made it necessary to
understand technology such as RF spectrum, digital communication,
and microprocessors.
In the last five years he has had over ten technical articles published in various trade journals such
as Asian Electronics Engineer, Card Manufacturing, and Mass Transit. Articles were also published in the
following Card Conference Proceedings: CardTech/SecurTech, Smart Card, Carte, Australia Cards, and Brazil
Cards.
Mr. Christian has presented technical papers on contactless smartcards circuits for the transportation and
financial industry at all of the major smartcard conferences in USA, Europe, Brazil, and Australia.
As a member of the Smart Card Forum's Technology and Transportation work groups, he has been able to share
his knowledge and help promote the contactless smart card in the card industry. Mr. Christian has taught
a contactless smart card course at several Smart Card Forum meetings. Also he is often asked to give
updates on the status of the ISO14443 contactless card standard at the Smart Card Forum.
Mr. Christian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kansas
State University. While working full time at Motorola Government
Electronics he earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
at Arizona State University.
